Gumustas will hit for gold

I’m Taner Gumustas, I’m 25 years old and a professional K1 kickboxing fighter.

I began martial arts at the age of 7 starting Taek-wondo classes with trainer Ercan Kocak, former student under Ridvan Manav.

By the time I was 13 I grew a passion for martial arts and began kickboxing and Kyokushin karate which is a Japanese militant focused karate that teaches strict discipline and has a solid foundation of martial arts.

I have trained up to the grade of Green kyu/belt under several instructors with Jim Phillips being my Shihan (term used to refer as master in apanese) Although my experience in take-won-do and kyokushin has been rewarding and allowed me to gain knowledge within the industry I decided to pursue kickboxing.

Once I became focused on kickboxing I started training under Jimmy Kyriakou During my amateur fighting career I secured the South Pacific, Eastcoast and NSW K1 title belts.

In 2018 I had exhausted all my opponents in the amateur rank and had to become pro under my new coach John Barra Benavides to allow myself the opportunity to continue to fight and progress my career.

Within the last year I have competed in 5 bouts securing 4 wins (1TKO) to 1 loss. My stamina, determination and technique has improved immensely and allowed me to now compete in the upcoming Australian MASA middleweight title. I couldn’t have made it where I am today without the support I have received this far and would be grateful to earn more support given the opportunity.

My goal is to reach the world class ranking and become world champion.
