Turkey Completes Construction Of New Military Post In Qatar

“I will be named after the fa­mous Muslim commander Khalid bin Walid,” Erdoğan said while visiting Turkish tro­ops in Doha. Erdoğan added that an Ankara-Doha joint for­ce command serves peace and stability not only in Qatar but also in the Gulf region.

Dubbing the command as “the symbol of brotherhood, friendship, solidarity and sin­cerity,” Erdoğan claimed [this command] has never based on “interests like that of the other countries’. “We have never left our friends alone in any period of the history against threats and risks, and we never will,” he said, and added: “We [Tur­key] attribute great importan­ce to peace, security and sta­bility of the Gulf region whe­re we are connected with de­ep roots”.

Erdoğan said he and the ac­companying Turkish offici­als held “fruitful, successful and sincere” meetings with their counterparts during the day. “We confirmed our will to strengthen bilateral ties from a strategic perspective, and bo­osted our cooperation with the new agreements we signed,” Erdoğan said, referring to the seven deals inked during the meetings. Following his mee­tings, Erdoğan departed from Qatar. The Turkish president arrived in Doha earlier in the day to attend the fifth meeting of the Turkey-Qatar High Stra­tegic Committee.

7 new agreements to further already strong Ankara-Doha ties

Friends in good times and bad, Turkey and Qatar Mon­day agreed to further boost their bilateral relations as they signed seven new agreements in several areas, including tra­de, industry and technology, while also strongly emphasi­zing military and defense coo­peration.

The deals came on the side­lines of President Recep Tay­yip Erdoğan’s one-day visit to Doha where he arrived Mon­day at the invitation of Qata­ri Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Ha­mad Al Thani to attend the fif­th meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Higher Strategic Committee.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed all as­pects of the relations between Turkey and Qatar, addressed the means to further deepen the cooperation between the two countries in all areas and exchanged views on regional and international issues.

Following the one-on-one meeting between Erdoğan and Al Thani, an agreement sig­ning ceremony was held af­ter an inter-delegation working meal. Seven agreements we­re inked with the attendance of the two leaders.

“We have held producti­ve, successful and sincere me­etings,” Erdoğan said, as he addressed Turkish troops du­ring his visit to the Qatari-Tur­kish Combined Joint Task For­ce Command.
